Once The Sun is
Anna Bohn: keyboard & vocals
Matt Halleman: vocals
Jason Rabus: guitar
Eric Kassens: guitar
Josh Morrison: bass guitar
Sam Morrison: drums

Not far from an Emu farm, comes a band from north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin called “Once the Sun.” All six members have been playing for years and have all played in different genres of music in various bands. The members of “Once the Sun” can be called a big family, because they have known each other for years. Josh and Sam are brothers, Eric, Josh and Jay have been friends since elementary school, Sam and Anna have known each other for years, Sam, Josh, and Matt have worked together before on a previous project.
Once the Sun was only thought of as a dream at first and was first talked about in June of 2004. Every element in the band was there except for one thing, a guitar player. Auditioning began in late June for a guitar player and after much deliberation a choice could not be made between Eric Kassens and Jason Rabus. The band decided that with the different styles of music that Jason and Eric brought to the table and their different playing styles, it would be more beneficial to have them both in the band and “Once the Sun” was born in August of 2004.
Now in 2008, Once the Sun has been in full octane pursuit at their conquest of audio world domination. With the full length LP "Shadows" being released in 2007 and their new upcoming 5-song EP "Blank Stares and Broken Words", it's only a matter of time. Between playing hundreds of shows, recording constantly, and cutting three albums, Once the Sun continues to surpass all obstacles, and always will.
Member Bios
Name: Anna Bohn
Position: Keyboards, Vocals
Equipment: Korg Triton LE
Hobbies: Writing short stories, photography, attempting to learn every Elton John and Dimmu Borgir song on the piano
Favorite band(s): I couldn’t say I have a favorite, there are so many bands I truly love and admire, but they are all so different I could never pick just one as my favorite.
Favorite song: Of all time or at the moment? It varies by week, or month, just depends on the mood. My favorite song of all time would have to be “Velouria” by the Pixies. My favorite song at the moment however would have to be “Ruin: by Lamb of God. But ask me next week, I’m sure it will change.
Band Influences and Genre Influences: I listen to a BROAD range of music. My biggest influences would have to be, the Pixies, Dimmu Borgir, Elton John, Billy Idol, Underoath, Heart, Moody Blues, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, the Clash, the Faint, Soilwork, etc…
My genre influences would be classical, heavy metal, hardcore, classic rock, and the Gothenburg sound.
Bio: I started in music at a very young age. I guess you could say I was born with it. I was raised in a home where music was a part of our lives every day. Whether it was Moody Blues, Mozart or John Denver, there was always something being played. My whole family is musically talented. My dad plays several instruments including guitar and banjo, he also sings. I was a very shy child, but had a strong heart for music. My first song was called “I won’t laugh at you anymore”, after I had gotten in trouble for something when I was four. My first song written on guitar was called, “Did you ever wonder what a frog tastes like”, when I was nine. I began taking piano lessons when I was eight. I stopped taking them seven years later and began my quest to punish my poor fingers until I had perfected my style. And here I am, years of practice and pain have paid off.
Name: Matt Halleman
Position: Vocals
Equipment: Shure Wireless microphones and Carvin P.A.’s
Hobbies: Video Games, Sports, and Social Outings with Friends
Favorite band(s): Alter Bridge, Submersed, Doors, and Cold
Favorite song(s): Can’t really think of any at the moment
Influences: My Influences in music weigh heavily on my favorite bands. I take a lot of influence from Cold, Alter Bridge, The Doors, and Submersed.
Bio: I have been singing in bands since I was 14 years old and have enjoyed some local success. I stared in a band called Consignment at age 14 playing mostly talent shows. At age 16, I joined Premonition where I got my first taste of what it is to really write solid songs and play real shows. When I realized that I wanted to take my level of musicianship forward, I joined PSI as lead vocals. PSI is the band where I really grew as a musician and as a person and I owe a lot of what I am musically to PSI. I have now taken a more mature approach to music in Once the Sun and have been lucky enough to still play with two of the musicians from PSI. I am also grateful to play with the three other musicians that came from different projects to form Once The Sun.
Name: Jason Rabus
Position: Guitar
Equipment: Yamaha Acoustic guitar, Self Customized Fender Strat with a boat neck and jumbo frets
Hobbies: Work (Is it the labor of love or the love of labor?), jogging, woodworking, and I am a huge music fan
Favorite band(s): Dire Straits (Marks rhythms are beautiful and his solos are truly heartfelt. There are no wrong notes, just perfection.), Nonpoint (for their extremely tight rhythms and sound grooves), Tommy Emmanuel (Hands down one of the most amazing acoustic guitar players around), Don Henley (for putting pure poetry and stories into his music. He gives a wisdom not seen in most music.), Operation Ivy, Screeching Weasels, Swinging utters (I like these bands because they write songs of struggle for the working class, like me).
Favorite song(s): Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits), Perfect Phrases, Cryling Like Solo’s
Influences: Andy Summers, Mark Knupfler, Phil Keagy, Robin Ford
Bio: I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old. The first lick I learned was the opening to “Crazy On You ” by Heart. The first full song I learned was “The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot. I enjoy employing my guitar technique into a lot of acoustic and electric guitar work. I enjoy playing a lot of different styles of music and am happy to be a member of Once the Sun because in this band, I don’t have to pigeonhole myself into one style. I have known all these people for a lot of years and enjoy playing with them every practice and every show.
